The way a shoe is built influences its shape, structure and character. Cobblerjack explores two distinct approaches: the contemporary versatility of a rubber cupsole and the visible craftsmanship of traditional stitchdown construction.
A pre-moulded rubber sole wraps around the lower part of the upper, creating a clean and familiar sneaker profile. Supportive, stable and easy to wear, cupsole construction gives leather footwear a relaxed, contemporary character suited to everyday movement.
In stitchdown construction, the edge of the leather upper is turned outwards and stitched directly to the sole platform. The exposed stitching becomes part of the design, giving the shoe a substantial structure, a handcrafted identity and an unmistakably rugged character.
Neither construction is simply better. Each offers a different expression of Cobblerjack design: one clean and contemporary, the other robust and rooted in traditional shoemaking.
